Cloud-native principles — Factory deltas¶
Target
This page describes intended behaviour or structure. No implementation is claimed unless a section is explicitly marked Current implementation or Evidence.

This page (platform-foundations/cloud-native-principles.md) was empty. The shared ConnectSoft cloud-native guidance lives in ConnectSoft.Documentation and in the core principle page; this page records only the Factory-specific deltas.
| Delta | Why the Factory needs it |
|---|---|
| Authority is not in the workers | Run, step, attempt, lease and approval state live in the Control plane store; workers are stateless and replaceable; losing a worker loses no state (runtime control) |
| Per-run isolation | A workspace and sandbox per run or attempt; no shared working trees; network allow-lists per task (sandboxes) |
| Scale-to-zero execution | Worker pools scale on queue depth and lease demand; the Control plane stays always-on; agent roles are not processes |
| Compute is separate from models | The same model may run on a workstation, a local GPU server, a cloud pool or a customer data centre; compute pools carry metadata (GPU, VRAM, region, tenant, price, utilization, queue depth, security boundary) (Model & Compute) |
| Deployment topologies | SaaS (ConnectSoft-managed control plane and runtime), hybrid (ConnectSoft control plane, customer runtime and data), customer on-premises (everything inside the customer environment), hybrid compute (local models for sensitive work, cloud models otherwise); no SaaS-only assumption in contracts |
| Idempotent, lease-fenced work | Dispatch is at-least-once; a stale lease cannot commit; uncertain external effects are reconciled, never repeated blindly (ADR-0014) |
| Profiles, not mandates | Transport, store, vector backend and hosting are selected per deployment profile with evidence (ADR-0012, ADR-0013) |
Current implementation¶
The template estate provides containerised hosts, Kubernetes and docker-compose manifests, Pulumi programs, health checks and OpenTelemetry. None of the Factory-specific deltas above exists in code.
