Agent Orchestration Manager

Target

This page describes intended behaviour or structure. No implementation is claimed unless a section is explicitly marked Current implementation or Evidence.

Filled 2026-10-09

This page was empty. It maps onto the final-state Agent Flow Explorer and the prototype's Workflow Runs, Run Control Center, Orchestration Timeline and Execution Trace destinations. Requirements: FUX-04 (run state and freshness), FUX-07 (recovery, retry, cancellation and replay semantics), FUX-02 (release readiness).

Purpose

Let an operator or requester understand exactly what a run is doing and intervene with authority. Every view is a projection of Run Control (Control plane) and attempt execution (Agent runtime); every intervention is a governed command.

Views

View Shows
Run detail Pinned release and model profile, policy revision, scope, state and version, timestamps, lease owner and expiry, cancellation intent
Execution graph Plan, steps, sub-agents, model calls (model, provider, tokens, latency, cost), tool calls (tool, arguments hash, duration, effect receipt), checkpoints
Attempt history Each try of a step with outcome, failure class, correction attempts; failed attempts are never hidden
Waiting states Waiting for tool, waiting for approval (links to the review), paused, retrying
Trace OpenTelemetry trace correlated by run/step/attempt identity (ADR-0014)

Commands and their semantics

Command Meaning Not the same as
Cancel Records cancellation intent; the run reaches Cancelled only when termination is observed and effects reconciled Immediate termination
Resume Continues a compatible persisted run from its checkpoint Starting over
Retry Records a new attempt of a step under the run's rules Resume
Replay Creates a new linked run with explicitly selected inputs and versions Modifying history
Pause / redirect Suspends dispatch; redirects require a policy decision Cancel

A command returns an acknowledgement; the resulting state is observed separately. Uncertain external effects are shown as uncertain until reconciled.

Permissions

Requester: own runs within scope; operator: recovery commands within scope; reviewer: decisions only, never on a run they requested; everything enforced by the backend, not by menu visibility (ADR-0015 roles; action classes per approvals, D21).

Current implementation

No run exists in code; the prototype's run views and orchestration timeline are fixtures and its review actions show a toast. Label: Simulated.
