Versioning and History Tracking¶
Target
This page describes intended behaviour or structure. No implementation is claimed unless a section is explicitly marked Current implementation or Evidence.
Filled 2026-10-09
This page was empty. It maps onto the final-state Artifact Lineage Browser and the prototype's Artifacts and Pack Versions destinations. Requirements: FUX-02 (inspectable relationships and immutable release readiness), FUX-06 (source-backed artifacts, validation, version lineage, safe access).
What is versioned (and must not be confused)¶
| Thing | Version unit | Owner |
|---|---|---|
| Agent, skill, tool, workflow, policy | Immutable release with manifest, hashes, source commits; mutable alias such as latest |
Control plane registries (BC-04) |
| Run | Pinned execution snapshot (release + sources + policy + model profile + index versions); never changes after acceptance | Control plane Run Control (BC-03) |
| Artifact | Version chain with producing run/attempt, source evidence, validation status, access scope | Knowledge & Memory (BC-12) |
| Template, library, package | Installer and package versions, pinned as a compatibility set | Software Factory pack (BC-14) and delivery (BC-24) |
| Generated product | Product release through delivery receipts | Execution (BC-24) and the product owner |
Views¶
- Release history per asset: what changed, who reviewed, evaluation evidence, revocations and their effect on in-flight runs.
- Artifact lineage:
derivedFrom, producedBy,supersedes; structured diff between versions; preview sessions are access-checked and expire (UI modules). - Run history within scope: which release and snapshot ran, outcome, linked artifacts and decisions.
- "Why did this change?" navigation from an artifact to the run, the approval and the source revision.
Rules¶
Historical state is never rewritten by current catalog or model values; a replay is a new linked run, not an edit of history.
Current implementation¶
No registry, artifact store or run exists; the prototype's artifact and version views are fixtures. Label: Simulated.
